100g ball of superfine alpaca double knit yarn in natural mid-cream colour. This yarn has a silky soft handle and bright lustre, and has an average fibre diameter of 23 microns or less. It is priced at €25 per 100g ball.
We, and our small herd of happy alpacas, are located in County Wicklow, the so called 'garden' county of Ireland, sandwiched between the Wicklow mountains and the Irish sea. All our yarn is produced by our own herd. Our alpacas are sheared in June of each year, we sort, grade and skirt the fleeces, and send a sample of each fleece to a specialised laboratory which analyses the quality of the fibre. Only the best is sent to the mill for processing into yarn.
